Yea, that's right - he DUG right in! Why not? We all have choices.
Shots like these don't happen all too often when I'm out on western stock shoots. It usually happens where I lay down in it, attempting to get my shot! With the 16-35mm at 16mm I'm probably a couple inches from this scene...yes, I can smell it in all it's stink'n glory. I LOVE this work!

Story behind the shot
I was capturing branding images adjacent to this location (see the lest image) when I saw the puppy eyeing the deliciousness that was left when the cowboys brought the cows in for branding. The puppy had that..."do I do it" look. When I saw it, I immediately turned around to watch what was about to go, in...I mean, down. Of course I WANTED it to happen, but I did not encourage it. I setup the camera and waited. Within a few seconds, he went in! I couldn't help but laugh out loud on this one.
You have to be prepared, and more than that, know your equipment so you're not wasting time. This all happened within a few seconds. It was just my choice to see this unfold, turn around and capture it.
